The Coanda Effect & Airflow Physics: Ending Heat Damage in Hair Styling
18 JULY 2026 · 5 MIN READ · Dr. Selin Yılmaz
For decades, the dilemma in hair care has been clear: the high heat needed for styling permanently damages the hair's keratin layer. Kamma R&D engineers adapted the aerodynamic Coanda effect to micro-scale, solving this problem once and for all.
What is the Coanda Effect and How Does It Work?
The Coanda effect is the tendency of a high-velocity fluid or air jet to stay attached to a nearby curved surface. High-pressure air from Kamma SilkStyle's 110,000 RPM digital motor wraps hair strands around the barrel effortlessly without extreme thermal plates.
The 150°C Heat Threshold & Keratin Protection
Hair keratin suffers irreversible damage above 150°C. Kamma's glass-bead smart sensors measure airflow temperature 40 times per second, guaranteeing the heat stays strictly below 120°C.
